What is Miro?

Miro is an online collaborative whiteboard platform that enables distributed teams to work effectively together, from brainstorming with digital sticky notes to planning and managing agile workflows.

Miro empowers remote, in-office, and hybrid teams to communicate and collaborate across formats, tools, channels, and timezones — without the constraints of physical location, meeting space, and whiteboards.

FAQs

How can I get my free license?

  • Email academictech@mohawkcollege.ca and one of the Digital Learning Technicians will send you an invitation. The licenses are available for both staff and students.

What is the difference between a free account and the license?

  • The free license only allows you to create a maximum of 3 boards. You are also limited or unable to use attention management, voting sessions, timers, custom templates, projects, sharing settings, etc.
  • With the Mohawk College license, you have access to all of the tools within Miro and can make as many boards as you would like to.

Do my students need a license too?

  • No, however they will be limited to using the basic features and can only create 3 boards if they choose to use a free account. Mohawk College has licenses available for your students.
  • They can be added to other boards with some limitations.

Is Miro integrated into Canvas?

  • Miro is currently not integrated into Canvas however your Miro boards can be embedded into a Canvas page. For help with this, contact academictech@mohawkcollege.ca

Can I use my old Miro boards on my new account?

  1. Let’s say you have a board in a profile under email #1 and would like to transfer it to a profile under email #2. First, log in to Miro under email #1
  2. Invite your email #2 to the team where the board in question is saved
  3. Transfer ownership of the board from your email #1 to email #2.
For that, find the board on the dashboard, select “Share” in the three-dot menu, and share the board with email #2 specifically – enter their email in the field and click “Send invitations”.
  4. Then, open the “Share”menu once again, click the “Sharing settings” button, find the owner-to-be on the list and select “Is owner” in the drop-down menu.
