What is Nearpod?

Nearpod is a technology-integrated learning environment that allows teachers to create presentations, interactive activities and assessments, organized in lessons. Instructors will be able to add both synchronous and asynchronous course content for the class.

A number of formats are supported (e.g. text, power points, PDFs, pictures, videos, including some form of virtual reality (VR) lessons. Each of these can be inserted into a slide. Lessons exported to students can run as mobile applications or as web client.

How Would Instructors use Nearpod in Their Course?

Instructors will need to have a Nearpod account in order to create content. Once they have an account, they can log in to create a Nearpod lesson, which can include slides, videos, and other activities.

Once a Nearpod lesson has been created, the instructor can then embed the lesson into another web page such as a MyCanvas course page.

Below is more detailed instructions on how to create and embed a Nearpod lesson:

Will I have access to Nearpod?

  • Everyone can create a free Nearpod account to start using them. However, the free account will have restrictions and class size limits.
  • Currently only the School of Health and Community Services have access to the paid licenses. This may change in the future as demands for Nearpod increases across other campuses

Where can I find support for Nearpod?
